This is one of 15-20 Helmets made for the movie "20,000
Leagues Under the Sea" starring Curt Douglas.
This an original helmet made for the movie 20,000 Leagues
Under the Sea starring Curt Douglas. I estimate that it
was made in 1953. The movie was released in 1954. I had a
call me in 1984 and tell me there were two of them for sale
in San Diego in a shop. I bought one and he bought the
other. At estimate there were 15 to 20 of these made for the
movie. They are a Japanese helmet and altered with
futuristic material that was added for the movie. They used
these helmets with tanks and a mask under water. Some of
these helmets were made out of
Fiberglas. This is one of
over 270 Helmets I own. My second edition of Helmets of
the Sea will have this helmet in the book, release date
will be the end of this year.
